Release Notes

This page lists changes to Quapp that you can see or use. Internal improvements are not listed.

October 29, 2026 · Production

Added

  • Live build, deploy and job logs. When you deploy a function, the Build Logs and Deploy Logs tabs show the log while the step is still running, and the progress of the four steps updates on its own. You can read the log page by page and download it. Deploying a function again starts a new run with its own log. The Job Details page of a job also shows the job log while the job runs and after it finishes, and you can download it. Older jobs keep their logs. See Function Details.
  • A waiting line for starting the Quapp Editor and IDEs. When several people start the Quapp Editor or an IDE at the same time, they now wait in line. Your place is kept through a short network failure and through a restart of the notebook hub, an Editor that is already running is reopened instead of started again, and you are told when no space is free. You can cancel while you wait.

Improved

  • Starting an IDE or the Quapp Editor on a new node is faster. The IDE images are now prepared on the node in advance, so you no longer wait about four minutes for an image to download.
  • Deploying an HPC function is faster. The base image for HPC functions is prepared in advance and built in separate layers.

Fixed

  • The Quapp Editor panel signs in when opened from another browser. Opening the Editor in the panel, including from a different browser, no longer asks you to sign in to JupyterHub and no longer shows a 403 error.

Added

  • Email alerts when a budget threshold is reached. A budget can now send an email when one of its alert thresholds is reached. You can turn email alerts on or off for each budget, choose recipients by role and add up to three more email addresses.
  • Deprecated SDK versions can no longer be chosen. SDK versions now have a lifecycle status. A deprecated SDK version can no longer be chosen for new functions, while functions that already use it keep deploying and running.
  • Maintenance status for devices. Devices that their provider reports as under maintenance now show a Maintenance status, with a tooltip that explains it, on the device list, the device details and the status legend. Invoking a job on such a device is refused with a clear message instead of creating a job that cannot run.
  • Language and SDK shown on workflow steps. A workflow step now shows the Language and SDK of the selected function next to its name. The function picker stays responsive in large projects.
  • Project Quota step in the Project Settings tour. The Project Settings guided tour now includes a step that points to the Project Quota button, right after Project Details.

Improved

  • IDEs are renamed Quapp Lab and Quapp Code. JupyterLab is now shown as Quapp Lab and VS Code as Quapp Code across the interface.
  • Hardware names in the Editor are the same in every language. The compute step of the Editor now shows the same hardware model names in every interface language, instead of a translated generic category in Japanese.

Fixed

  • A short network timeout no longer raises an error popup in the Quapp Editor. A temporary network timeout while the Quapp Editor refreshes its status no longer raises the technical error popup. Repeated errors update one popup instead of stacking.
  • Starting the Quapp Editor is no longer blocked by an IDE that has already stopped. Starting the Quapp Editor is no longer refused because an IDE that was closed is still shown as stopping.
  • API token users can invoke Quapp Simulator jobs. Invoking a Quapp Simulator job with an API token no longer fails with the message "No owner billing account found".
  • Email header logo displays correctly. Emails such as budget alerts, verification codes and workspace invitations now show the header logo correctly in Outlook and Gmail.
  • File scan notification position. The notification that shows the result of the file scan when you create a function or open its details now appears in the correct position.

Added

  • Deleted functions are purged automatically after 30 days. Functions in the Function Trash are permanently deleted automatically after 30 days. Restore a function before then if you want to keep it.
  • Deleted projects go to the Recycle Bin for 30 days. Deleting a project now moves it to the Recycle Bin instead of removing it immediately, and an administrator can restore it within 30 days. The functions and jobs inside the project are still removed when you delete it.
  • Quapp Editor: a browser-based IDE for your project. Open a project in the Quapp Editor, a browser-based IDE for that project. A setup wizard lets you choose the compute tier, and the editor shows live CPU and memory use.
  • Guided tour for workflow creation. Creating a workflow now offers a step-by-step guided tour of the screen. You can dismiss the tour and turn it back on, and it restarts from the beginning.
  • Clearer failure details and a filterable job log. A failed job now shows the type of failure instead of a raw message. The job log on the Job Details page can be filtered to find the relevant lines quickly.
  • Provider Usage Analysis page on Usage Time. Usage Time now has a Provider Usage Analysis page with a dashboard of your usage time.
  • Workspace ID shown on Project Details. The Project Details page now shows your Workspace ID.

Improved

  • Budget threshold notifications name the budget. A budget threshold notification now names the project or user the budget belongs to and links directly to it. This makes it clear which budget reached its threshold.
  • Faster function builds. Function builds now complete faster.

Fixed

  • Functions that are still deploying are not shown as Failed. A function whose deployment is still in progress is not marked as Failed.
  • Build Logs show the failing stage when a build times out. When a function build times out, the partial logs in the Build Logs tab include the stage that failed.

Added

  • Project and user budgets with alert thresholds. Billing account owners can set a spending budget for a project or for an individual user, with alert thresholds and a notification toggle for each threshold. Budgets are set in the billing account's currency and managed from a dedicated page.
  • C++ support for functions. Functions can now be written in C++ as well as C. C and C++ functions run on the native Qiskit 2.4.1 bridge, which the create-function wizard offers only for those two languages.
  • Free monthly runtime allowance for Quapp Simulator. Quapp Simulator usage now includes a free monthly runtime allowance. The remaining allowance is shown when you invoke a function.
  • Device details. Each quantum device now has a details view showing its specifications and characteristics.
  • HPC jobs run on resources matching the selected device, with GPU support. HPC jobs now run on the resources that match the device you select. Jobs that need a GPU are allocated GPU resources and can use them during the run.
  • HPC job step available in workflows. Workflows can now include an HPC job step. You configure it from a new HPC job tab.
  • Warning when a device selection includes devices not granted to the workspace. When you edit the QUAPP tab of Provider's Devices, a warning alert appears if your selection includes devices the workspace has not been granted. This makes the situation visible before you save.

Improved

  • Virus-scan result shown when you upload files. The function creation screen shows the virus-scan result of uploaded files as part of the upload.
  • Job logs show your function's output. Function logs in job details show the lines your function prints.

Fixed

  • HPC jobs now move on from the Queued state. HPC jobs now progress from Queued to the next state as intended. The progress indicator shown while invoking in the web app now reflects the Queued state.
  • Retried jobs keep their original failure details. A retried job keeps the failure stage and message from the attempt that failed.
  • Outdated message no longer appears when switching IDEs. An outdated message that was shown while switching between IDEs no longer appears.
